A partnership agreement was signed between the Georgian Rugby Union and the law firm McGill.
“McGill” will fully take over the legal issues of the Rugby Union and will also become the appeal authority for disciplinary issues, which will increase the level of objectivity.
“This is the first time that legal services have gone outside of rugby union, and we are glad that this company is McGill, where high-level lawyers work. We have been cooperating with them for the past few months and this cooperation has proved to be productive. Now we have signed a long-term agreement with them and “McGill” will fully take over the legal issues of the rugby union. It is important that it leaves the Rugby Union and this company will take care of disciplinary and appeal issues, which will dispel the feeling of non-objectivity for the disputing parties” – said the Vice-President of the Rugby Union, Bacho Khurtsidze.
Managing partner of the company, Revaz Beridze, says that “McGill” has been cooperating with Georgian sports teams for years and has accumulated enough experience:
“We have been passionate supporters of rugby for years, we have not missed a single World Cup in recent years, and it is a great honor for us to cooperate with the Rugby Union. We have been actively involved in sports for years. We provide legal support for football, futsal, basketball. We help both clubs and athletes directly, and we are glad that our cooperation with the Union has also taken place. In addition to full legal services, McGill will take over the appeals body of the Rugby Union, which will raise the level of objectivity for everyone connected with rugby.”
